I was so excited as we were approaching Rapid City. Around two years ago, I visited this area as well as the Badlands and Mount Rushmore. I love landmarks, national parks, and being comfortable, so staying at this My Place Hotels location was perfect for me!
Things Around My Place Hotels
From this location, you are less than an hour from Badlands National Park and Mount Rushmore. This is a great home base if you are looking to explore the area’s natural and man-made attractions. Another thing right down the road is the famous Wall Drug. Needless to say, if you stay at this particular My Place location you will never run out of things to do and see!
When we first arrived at this My Place Hotels location and checked in, our friendly staff began telling us how crazy the weather had been lately. It looked and felt great outside for the most part, but they had told me there had been some extremes lately. Around an hour later, I decided to go to my favorite restaurant chain that I rarely get to visit (Pizza Ranch.) As soon as we got into the parking lot, it began to hail. I began to understand what she meant about crazy weather!
Needless to say, this meant that we decided not to drive in this weather to see the Badlands this time. Instead, we figured that hanging around our hotel was the best and smartest thing to do in this weather.
My Place Rapid City
Upon check in, the awesome staff provided us with plenty of maps and tourist info. That was helpful so that we could decide what we wanted to see. Since the weather changed our plans, we checked out the info to decide what we may want to do the next day.
For the night, we hung around in our comfy room and relaxed. Since we did not want to get back out in the bad weather, I was especially grateful for the My Store location as well as the fridge and microwave in our room!
Once we were in our room, things didn’t seem as bad as they were outside. We used the wifi to get some work done and flipped through the plentiful channels on tv. We only use Netflix, so this was a welcome change of pace for us!
