There are a lot of ways to travel, but one of the best has to be as a means of celebrating the world in which you are traveling. There are many ways in which travel might be like doing this anyway, but if you want to make it even more of a thing for yourself, then you might want to think about visiting those places in the world which are particularly good for a bit of a celebration. Some of the best celebrations are impossible not to know about, for that is just how effective they are in doing what they set out to do. Some are lesser-known but magical and powerful in other ways. In this post, we’ll look into some of the best places around the world you might want to visit at some point in your life for a truly exciting celebration. What better way to celebrate being alive on planet Earth?

- Mardi Gras, New Orleans
Arguably the largest and most outrageous party anywhere in the world, Mardi Gras has long been a staple of this kind of explorative awakening. If you are looking for somewhere to have a non-stop, five-day-long party, then the city of New Orleans is definitely the place to go. Technically there are other cities around the world with a Mardi Gras, but this one is the original, and still the best. These days, they have rebuilt, and the festival is the same as it ever was. There has never been a better time to get involved in the biggest party on the planet.
2. Songkran, Thailand

Every Thai New Year, the entire country of Thailand celebrates in a particularly original way – by getting wet. If you were to visit the streets of Bangkok during this time, you would be well advised to keep your personal items and belongings in something waterproof, for the way in which they celebrate their New Year is with a giant water fight. Think a city with the hustle and bustle of London, but everyone has a super soaker. This particularly unique celebration stretches from an ancient practice of wiping mud on the face and cleaning it off as a celebratory act of the New Year, and today it has become a tourist-filled giant water park which not only anyone can get involved in, but nobody there can actually avoid. This is absolutely bound to be one of the best times you can have abroad, and it is definitely something to consider if you are looking for a truly amazing celebration.
3. Independence Day, San Diego

Although the entire USA celebrates their independence day, some locations are particularly well-known for doing so in great style and with great panache. San Diego is arguably one of the top places to visit for a traditional Fourth of July celebration, and it is something which you can’t really miss out on if you are there during that time regardless. When it comes to finding the best guest reservations, you can’t really miss out San Diego during Independence Day. You’ll find more fireworks than you can shake a stick at, more drinking and partying than you might even be ready for, and a hugely welcoming and diverse people who will be happy to draw you in and try to keep you there. Definitely worth a visit if you are traveling to the US during this time.
4. Burning Man, Nevada

Known as the most outlandish festival anywhere in the world, Burning Man has developed a reputation for being a little over the top and for some people, hard to handle. Nonetheless, putting the hype aside, what you also have here is essentially just a huge celebration which is actually incredibly welcoming, enjoyable, and for some people genuinely mind-bending. Known as a hub of creativity, spirituality and art, this is somewhere for people from all walks of life to visit, regardless of experience or temperament. You can be as involved or not as you like, and if nothing else you can just take in the sights in the beautiful Nevada desert. But get into it, and you could find that it is one of the most transformative experiences of your life.
The above are all great examples of worldly celebrations, but don’t forget too the other possibility: to take the celebration with you, wherever you go. Do that, and you can go pretty much anywhere and call it a party.
