There are so many great new restaurants which have cropped up, and you will find that you can easily sit down to eat any of the fantastic food that is on offer here. You might want to go the traditional route and eat some proper Colombian food, or you might feel that it is necessary to try out a range of different options. There is also a lot of street food which you simply have to try if you want to get the full literal flavor of this amazing country. You will eat well, and that is always going to make for a much better trip, so that is a great reason to visit Colombia.

Touring

Colombia is also one of the best places to take a tour too, and if that is one of your favorite ways to get around and see the sights in a new location, then this is absolutely something you should consider. Taking a tour will open you up to the history and culture of the place much more than if you were traveling without such assistance, and you will find that you are able to discover many hidden gems this way which you otherwise would not be able to discover. If you are keen to take a tour or two, make sure that you get your money’s worth. If you are to visit other places in the same extended trip, you might be able to get an Ecuador and Colombia tour, or something similar, so that will save you some money.

People

Colombia was not always a travel hotspot, but it is becoming so, and part of the reason for that is that the people are very nice to be around. You will be surprised just how welcome you feel in this part of the world, and it is going to mean that you are likely to enjoy yourself a lot more than you might have thought possible. The people are always an important part of traveling, so this is definitely good news.

  4. Wow, so timely. We are considering about visiting Cartagena over spring break next year. I was a bit leary at first with all the safety concerns, but sounds like it’s a worthy destination.

I wouldn’t say the food is great but you can make it work. As far as eating options especially in Medellin, you can have your pick from pretty much any cuisine at excellent prices. The one thing I really loved and took advantage of and hope anyone reading this will too, are the Menu Del dia (menu of the day). Cheap, filling, and typically tasty.
