5 Places to Visit in Alabama

You could spend weeks visiting the major cities in most states in America and you still wouldn’t scratch the surface of what it has to offer. Each state is unique in its own, interesting ways.

Alabama may not be the first place you think of when planning a vacation, but it has plenty of sites to take in during your time there. If you’re looking to plan the ideal trip to Alabama, take a look at these five must-see places to visit during your stay.

1. Montgomery


Let’s start with the state capital, Montgomery. Montgomery is a city with a rich history and is perhaps best-known as being one of the key locations during the Civil Rights Movement. A great city to enjoy art and culture, you’ll find plenty to do in Montgomery. Most recently, the Legacy Museum has opened in the city, a museum highlighting the slave trade and the lynchings which occurred in the state.

2. Birmingham


Whatever your scene, you’ll find something to enjoy in Birmingham, Alabama’s most populated city. Things to do in Birmingham include live music, sampling the city’s diverse and renowned food scene and explore the city’s many beautiful parks. Birmingham offers a true taste of city living, so you’ll need to plan your visit carefully to make sure you don’t miss out on anything.

3. Demopolis

Demopolis is a great city which is worth a stop on your tour of Alabama. 4. Mobile


Located on the Gulf Coast, Mobile is a great stop to make on your Alabama adventure. The famous Dauphin Island has a beautiful beach to enjoy, while the city itself is full of museums and places of interest that will make it a memorable stop on your travels. 5. Huntsville


If you’ve always been curious about space, then a visit to Huntsville is a must during your Alabama trip. It’s the home of the U.S Space and Rocket Center, which offers a full day out in itself. Inside the city, you’ll find plenty of beautiful green spaces as well museums, while those who love to shop will find what they’re looking for at Bridge Street Town Center and Parkway Place.
