Atlanta may not be the first place that you think of when it comes to a tourist destination; however, there are plenty of things to do and see in this lovely city!
6 Things to Do in Atlanta
- Centennial Olympic Park
This area was built up as part of an improvement project for the 1996 Summer Olympics. It is surrounded by many Atlanta landmarks. One of the most interesting parts of the park it the Fountain of Rings. This place is perfect to cool off on a hot day.
2. World of Coca-Cola
Experience the history of this famous company! Probably the most interesting part of this building is the Taste It! lounge. Here you can try 100+ international and domestic beverages made by Coca-Cola. You can try beverages from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
3. CNN Studio Tour
Even if you aren’t a fan of CNN, it is still interesting to see how a studio works! This building also contains the Cartoon Network store, which is fun. You can even get a VIP tour for only $33.
4. Atlanta Botanical Garden
This 30-acre botanical garden in Midtown Atlanta is stunning! It was developed to “maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conservation, research, and enjoyment.” If you decided to go, be sure to check out their Garden Etiquette before visiting!
5. Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site
Here, you can see Martin Luther King Jr.’s boyhood home. You can also see the original Ebenezer Baptist Church, which King was a member of. In the visitor center, you will find a museum with information about the American Civil Rights Movement.
6. Fox Theatre
See one of the many shows at the Fox Theatre or join in on a tour. You can visit 10 locations throughout this gorgeous and historic building on the 60-minute tour. This historic building opened in 1929. The architecture of the building is said to be a mix of Islamic and Egyptian architectures.

You didn’t mention the aquarium, which I thought was fantastic, if pricey. Actually, you can find interesting things almost anywhere. We made of spur of the moment decision to stop at the world’s largest barbed wire museum” in Nowheresville, TX, just for the quirkiness of it. Turned out that everyone we saw there agreed it was fascinating and well worth their time. Eyes open!

Due to time constraint I have ticket for CNN Studio Tour but I was not able to do it anymore. Then, I like that garden in Midtown, though I haven’t seen it too. They said Atlanta was not the best city to see first when in USA but I never regret that it was my first city visited in America.
