Hostel 47 in Ghent, Belgium Review

Ghent is a very charming town in Belgium that you may not have been to – yet. After doing some in-depth research and trying to determine what city that I would like to visit in Belgium this past December, Ghent caught my eye.

During my time in Ghent, I had the pleasure of staying in Hostel 47. They offer a variety of rooms, from private rooms for 2 people to larger mixed dormitories; there is a room for everyone at this Hostel!

When we arrived we got the sheets for our room and headed up the stairs. We were lucky because the past few days before our arrival it had been raining and snowing. During our time we had mostly clear skies which made it even more pleasurable to walk around and explore.

We stayed in a private two person room, with a bunk bed. The bottom bunk was quite large, with a smaller top bunk. Outside of our room was a common shared bathroom area. This included three sinks, private toilets, and private showers. This area was very nice, with a modern look.

The staff was very friendly and provided us with a really handy map and guide to Ghent. This included recommendations from locals which we found useful and interesting. They gave us the simple directions to get around the city.

This hostel is in a great location. You are within around a 10-minute walk to both the train station and to the center of the city (complete with a castle.)

Ghent is a beautiful city, and Hostel 47 is the perfect base for you to explore it! It is also the perfect place to stay that is affordable, modern, safe, and private all in one. You are even given an access code to enter the building. Ghent felt like a very safe and welcoming city to me. Everyone that I came into contact with was friendly, even though we sometimes had language barriers to overcome. Overall, this is a city, and a hostel, that I recommend you take the time to visit!
